Library Bar in the Hills

Year of Completion: 2020
Location: Himachal Pradesh
Area of Construction: 1500 sqft.

A bar is a space that allows one to unwind, socialize and detach. This bar is designed as a part of a second home, located in north India. The bar space doubles as a cigar lounge as well as a cozy nook to loose oneself in books. The concept was to create a space that exudes warmth and comfort through earthy tones and materials. Old English bar designs were influential in creating the bar for the second home. Wooden undertones, veneer cladded coffered ceiling, veneer wall panels, rubble cladding, arched entryways and plush fabrics were incorporated in the design to achieve that look. A touch of modernity has been added through contemporary light fixtures, printed fabrics, unique consoles and abstract artwork. The space also aims at glorifying the nature around the property by providing openings and window to bring in the natural light and greens. The exquisite and unconventional bar back provides a beautiful display for the distinguished liquor and wine collection of the client. Veneer panelling and cane adds a varied texture and character to the bar counter while the brass insets adds a refined touch.

Printed tropical fabrics, abstract artwork and indoor planters add color and freshness to the room. The space also aims at glorifying the nature around the property by providing the right openings to bring in natural light and lush greenery outside.
